One of the questions I get most often about Framer templates is some version of: "How much can I actually change without breaking everything?"

The honest answer: a lot more than you think if the template was built well.

Here's what you can realistically do yourself, what requires more technical knowledge, and when it makes sense to hand it off.

What you can always do yourself

Text and copy — Every text block in a Framer template is editable directly in the canvas. Click, type, done. No code required.

Colors — Most well-built templates use a global color style system. Change the primary color once and it updates everywhere. In Sidebay Supply templates, this is always the case.

Images — Replace any image by dropping a new one onto the canvas. Framer handles the sizing automatically in most cases.

Fonts — Framer has a built-in font library connected to Google Fonts. Swap the font family in the text styles panel and it updates site-wide.

Page structure — Reorder sections by dragging them in the layers panel. Delete sections you don't need. Duplicate sections you want more of.

What takes a bit more confidence

Animations — Framer's animation system is visual and relatively intuitive, but tweaking timing, easing, and scroll triggers requires spending an hour with the tool. Not hard — just unfamiliar the first time.

Layout adjustments — Moving elements within a section, adjusting spacing, changing a grid from three columns to two — all doable without code, but you need to understand Framer's auto-layout system.

CMS content — If your template uses Framer CMS for blog posts or project pages, adding and editing content is straightforward. Setting up the CMS structure from scratch is more involved.

If you need the template to feel genuinely custom — your typography system, your specific animation style, your brand's visual logic applied throughout — that's when DIY customization hits its limits.

The Sidebay Supply personalization service is built for exactly that situation. You bring the template, we bring the craft. The result feels like it was built for you from the ground up — because structurally, it was.

Starting at $2,500 for multi-page customization.
